The story.
Dame Tu Mano/Mercy’s Hands begins on December 2014 as a group of friends with one dream accord, and it is to give children from poor and vulnerable communities the opportunity of a better future. We began with bringing donations of first necessity items to poor communities. In time we grew, and were able to reach more places with medical brigades, education, and a message of hope.
We built our first community home in Isla Trinitaria, Ecuador. The goal with the community home was to generate new opportunities for the community in Isla Trinitaria, and make of this a place to get together and build together. The beginning was exciting, having 30 children who were attending consistently to receive academic formation, guidance in faith, nurturing and medical attention.
Quickly we were able to build a place of refuge and learning, where today we host 250 children approximately, as well as their parents; with this practice we can help building and strengthening love and family unity.
We work in providing clinics with different subjects, which allows the amplification and development of their knowledge and skills. The objective is to pour into the children to form entrepreneurs and individuals of good, creating opportunities for them to have the possibility of a better future.
In 2019 we suffered a fire in our place of refuge, our community home; and we lost all our materials used for teaching, but that didn’t stop us. It boosted our dreams and we dreamed even bigger. Today we have three locations, and these are: Isla Trinitaria, Duran, and La Ladrillera.
Between the three locations, we receive a total of 500 children, and they are receiving tutoring for school, art clinics, medical attention, psychological support, guidance in faith, and first necessity items. All of this is done with the goal of giving them hope and an opportunity for a better future.
We believe that where there is love, God puts His signature; and this is why we extend our hands in favor of our neighbours, with the certainty that we can make great changes together.
